Tequila Ocho Plata is produced in single estates with a limited amount of agave. Each vintage of Ocho is both rare and collectable!

Meet Your Mixologist:

Berto Santoro

Master mixologist, Berto Santoro, is one of the most respected bartenders in the country with over two decades of experience. Most recently overseeing the cocktail program at Farina, an upscale Italian restaurant, by James Beard award-winning Chef Michael Smith, located in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2008, Santoro helped open Michael Smith's Extra Virgin and oversaw the cocktail programs at Michael Smith Restaurant as well as Extra Virgin. He is managing partner of the Paris of the Plains Cocktail Festival, an annual multi-day educational and entertainment spectacular highlighting Kansas City’s flourishing cocktail culture and history. Santoro also co-foundered the Kansas City Chapter of United States Bartenders Guild in 2011, which is a non-profit organization with a mission to elevate the profession through education, service, and camaraderie.

Preparation:

 

Tools Needed

  • Recommended glassware: 1 coupe or martini glass, 2 rocks glasses

  • Cocktail shaker (substitute a glass mason jar with a screw top)

  • Knife 

  • Bar spoon (or teaspoon)

  • Jigger (substitute a measuring cup or shot glass)

  • Muddle (substitute the handle of a spatula)

  • 2 small saucepans (for syrups)

Preparing for the Experience

Please complete the following steps 30 minutes in advance:

  • Locate glassware

  • Locate and portion all ingredients

  • Have ice on hand

Cocktail One

Spicy Cilantro Margarita

Yields 1 Drink

Ingredients:

Cocktail

  • 2 oz tequila

  • 1 oz dry Curacao

  • 1 oz lime juice

  • 0.5 oz simple syrup

  • 3 small slices of serrano pepper

  • Cilantro

Simple Syrup

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/2 water

Cocktail Two

Jalisco Old Fashioned

Yields 1 Drink

Ingredients:

Cocktail

  • 2 oz Reposado or anejo tequila 

  • 0.5 oz simple syrup

  • Regans Orange Bitters

  • Angostura Bitters

  • Fee Bros. Old Fashioned Bitters

Simple Syrup

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/2 water

Cocktail Three

Ready Fire Aim

Yields 1 Drink

Ingredients:

Cocktail

  • 1.75 oz tequila

  • 1 oz Honey-Pineapple Syrup*

  • 0.75 oz Pineapple juice

  • 0.5 oz Lime Juice

  • 3 dashes orange bitters

  • Garnish: Pink Peppercorn (ground) 

Honey-Pineapple Syrup

  • 2 cups honey

  • 1 cup hot water

  • 50 pink peppercorns

  • 1 whole pineapple, cubed
